The past month has been so busy, where do I begin?

Firstly, attending the Under 25 European Championships at Hartpury College in July had to be my highlight of the month! It was amazing to represent Team GB, watch our junior team win the bronze medal and catch up with so many friendly faces. I was so inspired by everyone, and it has definitely given me an extra boost to reach my goals! All our riders were incredible and danced their hearts out!!!! Another massive congratulations Team GB!

Of course, we couldn’t miss The World Championships on livestream. Watching Lottie Fry and Glamourdale winning not 1, but 2(!!!!), gold world championship medals was incredible! You could’ve heard a pin drop when we were waiting for her scores to come in – Congratulations Lottie!

Since my last blog, I’ve attended two competitions. It was my first time attending the summer regionals at Advanced Medium Gold. I was super happy with my test as it gave me the best feeling in the ring as a partnership! Receiving consistent marks and a respectable score against top competition made me really proud! I never would have thought I’d be competing at this level this time last year… let alone competing at the regionals!

My second competition was a learning curve as it highlighted the areas that I needed to work! My canter work was a real highlight scoring 7.5’s and 8’s, which was great! Although the overall score wasn’t as high as I would’ve liked, it was good for me to see where I need to make improvements.

Jess, my Trainer Coach, visited me at the yard to check the progress of my level 3 senior equine groom apprenticeship. I’ve just started module 4, which is all about horse handling, care and appearance. I really enjoy working through each module at a time as Jess encourages me to expand my knowledge for my own benefit, not just the qualification, which is really motivating.

As you can image, we’ve been busy at the yard with visits from the saddler, dentist and farrier. I’m lucky that they’re all open to lots of questions! I ask quite a lot about the ins and outs of why things get done in a specific way for each horse. It’s so lovely to be surrounded by such a supportive team.

Bring on the next month!

Emilia

Since Emilia’s latest blog, she attended the Under 25 Dressage Championships at Sheepgate Equestrian, where she placed 2nd and achieved a well-deserved spot on the podium!

Well done Emilia!
