Why choose Haddon Training?

For more than two decades, our commitment to delivering exceptional service to both learners and employers has solidified our position as a leading training provider across equine and animal care and we forged excellent partnerships with a range or charities and organisations.

We’ve established strong and valued connections across these sectors and are proud to work with brilliant companies including the RSPCALongleat Safari Park, and Hughes Dressage. Our dedication to providing superior training is evident in our awards and accreditations, including Cyber Essentials Plus, the matrix standard and an Ofsted ‘Good’ grade.

Functional skills

When participants begin a qualification with us, they may need to complete Functional Skills in maths and English. These are mandatory for apprentices who start aged 16–18, unless they already hold equivalent qualifications.

Apprentices aged 19+ are not automatically required to complete Functional Skills, but they or their employer can choose to opt in. If they do, the government will fund this, and while they must attempt the assessments, passing them is not required to finish the apprenticeship.

Functional Skills help learners apply maths and English in practice – from calculating feed and medication ratios to communicating effectively with clients and colleagues – and are valuable in many equine and animal care roles.

For our Alternative Provision courses, Functional Skills remain optional.

Partnering with Haddon Training has been a real success. Their ongoing support for our apprentices has been invaluable. It allows them to develop practical skills and confidence while gaining real-world experience in a working equine yard.
