NRW: Meet Our Racing Trainer Coach, Helen

As part of our celebration of National Racehorse Week, we’d like to introduce Helen, who has recently joined the Haddon Training team as a Racing Trainer Coach. With a strong foundation in coaching, competition, and breeding, Helen brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role. She shares insights into her journey, qualifications, and what excites her most about this next chapter in her career.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background?

I’m Helen, I’m a seasoned Coach and rider with over 25 years in the industry, with a wide range of experience in diverse equine businesses.

What qualifications do you hold, and how did they shape your career?

I passed my British Horse Society Assistant Instructor (BHS AI) qualification in 1999. After that, I moved to France to continue my training and earned their Brevet Professionnel d’Equitation (BPJEPS), a professional equestrian qualification. These certifications helped me build a solid foundation as both a rider and a coach.

Can you describe your competition experience?

I’ve gained extensive competition experience in dressage, show jumping, and eventing, both in England and France. Additionally, I’ve worked as a rider in the racing industry, which gave me another perspective on working with horses.

Aside from competing, what other areas of the equine industry have you been involved in?

I’ve also been involved in breeding, focusing on Selle Français and Thoroughbreds. I’ve furthered my knowledge in this area and have also gained some successful results.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

I’m excited to apply my skills and experiences to help my learners achieve the best possible outcomes in their learning journeys.
