Business Administrator within Racing

What to expect as a Business Administrator within Racing
This unique learning experience blends traditional business with the unique dynamics of the racing world. Through practical learning apprentices will actively participate in a range of business administration tasks within their chosen horseracing organisation. They will gain applied skills and knowledge with exposure to industry-specific tasks. Throughout their journey they will be supported by their employer and an experienced Trainer Coach who will guide them in their education. Participants will make meaningful contributions to the growth and success of horseracing businesses and gain transferable skills, preparing them to advance in their career.
What you will learn during the Business Administrator within Racing course
Learners will immerse themselves in a unique blend of business principles tailored to the dynamic environment of horseracing. They will learn the fundamental principles of business administration, including finance, marketing, human resources, and operations management. Alongside this, they will develop skills within regulatory compliance, technology integration and strategic planning, specific to horseracing. They will also attend a British Horseracing Authority (BHA) overview day designed to expand knowledge of the sport and covering topics including racing administration, the rules of racing, racehorse ownership, as well as discussing key issues facing the industry.
Designed for the horseracing industry
This innovative course has been tailored specifically for those who are passionate about horseracing and hold a keen interest in working within administration. Haddon Training have developed this course in close partnership with the BHA to ensure that it meets the needs of the industry, whilst enabling learners to hone their business skills with a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities. As well as attending at a BHA overview day, participants can expect to visit a racecourse or established racing yard, shadowing their staff to gain further insight into racing.

What happens after completing a Business Administrator within Racing apprenticeship?
Participants will have gained a set of highly valuable transferable business skills, all developed through practical experience. They may chose to progress into a more senior role in, or outside of, horseracing, including team leading or mentoring. Apprenticeships provide individuals with the opportunity to contribute fresh ideas and innovative solutions to challenges. This fosters creativity and encourages a forward-thinking mindset, providing scope for career progression in a multitude of avenues including event coordinator, marketing specialist and financial administration.
Business Administrator within Racing FAQs
The Business Administrator within Racing course takes a minimum of 13 months to complete, though this is tailored to each participant and more time is allowed for those who require it.
The Business Administrator within Racing course is an apprenticeship and so no cost in incurred by the participant. Learners are employed and receive all the benefits of a paid employee, including a regular wage* and holidays.
