Celebrating #NAW2023 with Longleat Safari Park

As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2023, we caught up with Jenny Smith, Learning and Development Training Officer at Longleat Safari Park. Jenny discusses her experience with Haddon Training

Ready to recruit

“Longleat has been working closely with Haddon Training since March 2020. Although the pandemic delayed things, when Longleat was ready to recruit its first apprentices, Haddon Training was prepared to create training content to support the delivery of the level 3 keeper and aquarist qualification at Longleat.”

Feeling supported

“The onboarding process went well. We were supported in every way to enrol the apprentices before government funding deadlines. Each of the team I spoke to was helpful and courteous.

We worked together to allow Trainer Coach, Grace Goddard, the time she needed with the Longleat collection and keeper staff to understand what our apprentice experience would be. I think this has been particularly useful for both parties.”

Engaged  apprentices

“The apprentices have monthly teaching and review sessions. I have attended the training sessions and I’m happy with the delivery. The apprentices are all engaged and enjoying their apprenticeship so far.”
