Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a great Easter? I have so much to update you on since my last blog….

I spent a fabulous week at home celebrating my 21st birthday at the start of April with family and friends. I had the most amazing time but was so happy to see the horses when I got back!

March has been extremely exciting! Whilst Beanie enjoys a well deserved break, my youngster, Dennis, arrived at the yard. I’ve waited over 4 years for this moment as I bought him as a 6 month old foal, so this has been really exciting! Being based with Judy Harvey has its perks – She’s offered great advice and training with him. She is a fountain of knowledge so I’m taking everything she says onboard. Dennis has taken to his education like a true professional. He’s an absolute star and I’m very much looking forward to our partnership together in the future.

It’s definitely been a learning curve and going back to basics with Dennis, after learning so much on Beanie as a Grand Prix horse. We’ve started with saddle fitting and a new bridle to give him the best start, which is so important. I’ll be sharing my progress with him over the next few months.

As the yard is based near Addington Equestrian Centre, it’s meant I’ve had the opportunity to pop down and watch some of the big shows. At the end of April, I watched the Premier League show with classes from 4yo’s to Grand Prix.

I’m excited to be grooming for Judy at Hickstead Premier League this month! Hickstead is such a fantastic venue. It’s so nice to meet up with everyone at these events. Don’t forget I’m always happy to chat if anyone recognises me and would like to ask any questions about my apprenticeships, horses or equestrian life in general 🤩

I’ve now finished the content for the Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship so revision begins for my end point assessment (EPA) which I’m due to take at the start of summer! Jess, my Trainer Coach, has been fab at helping me revise and giving me different techniques to use.

I’m looking forward to getting out to some Premier League competitions this year with Beanie, and then the summer regionals. Hopefully I will be competing Dennis too in the summer so there’s lots of exciting times ahead!
