We work closely with our partner, The Saddlery Training Centre in Salisbury, to offer the Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships to individuals working in a range of employments within the Saddlery industry.
The Saddlery Centre is recognised as a Centre of Excellence by Creative Skillset and was awarded its prestigious 'Tick' accreditation in 2012. It also works in close association with The Saddlers Company, The Society of Master Saddlers, City & Guilds, ABC Awards, Skillset, Haddon Training Ltd and the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA).
The Level 2 and Level 3 qualifcations are accredited by the City and Guilds of London Institute and The Saddlers’ Company. Three pathways are offered at each level:
Abby Nowell is an apprentice at The Saddler's Den, Southport.
In spring 2013, Abby was recognised by the Worshipful Company of Saddlers with an award for excellence for her high level of craft skill at just 17 years old. She also won awards for Best in Show by an apprentice and Best Harness Piece by an apprentice. Abby attended the event at Buckingham Palace and was given her award by the President, HRH The Princess Royal.
Speaking about her success, Abby Nowell said that she was quite overwhelmed and still couldn’t quite believe that she had won the award. She has always enjoyed the craft of saddlery and leatherwork and is looking forward to learning more and completing the apprenticeship.
