Employers in Wales

Government funding is now available to Haddon Training in Wales through Torfaen Training and Cambrian Training.

Apprenticeships in Wales are increasingly recognised as the gold standard for work-based training. Already, more than 130,000 employers offer Apprenticeships.

apprenticeship levels

We offer two levels of Equine Apprenticeship available for those aged 16-24 years of age:

Foundation Apprenticeship (equivalent to five GCSEs at A-C level) contains:

  • Horse Care  Diploma (formally NVQ) Level 2
  • Equine Technical Certificate (Knowledge and understanding)
  • Employee’s Rights & Responsibilities
  • Essential Skills (English & Maths at Level 1)

Advanced Apprenticeship (equivalent to two A-level passes) contains:

  • Horse Care Diploma (formally NVQ) Level 3
  • Equine Technical Certificate (Knowledge and understanding)
  • Employee’s Rights & Responsibilities
  • Essential Skills (English & Maths at Level 2)

To start this programme, apprentices should ideally have five GCSEs (grade C or above) or have completed a Foundation Apprenticeship.

Eligibility for Funding

  • Must be between the ages of 16 and 24 at the time of application.
  • Must be resident within the EU for 3 years or more.
  • Must have a national insurance number.
  • Must be employed (on a yard) a minimum of 16 per week.
  • The apprenticeship wage applies and that is £3.30 per hour.
  • Must not be in full time education with a college or in state funded school 6th form.
